Double Vision.

First week at school - all good.
Students are keen, well behaved and even smile at some of my attempts at humour. Not sure if they are being kind or I am mistaking the smile for a cringe!!!!

Whilst I have been slaving over a hot white board, Hanneke has been out and about exploring Shenzhen.

Hanneke and Wendy looking lovelier than the cities water supply.

The trials and tribulations of a Chinese walking trail.

Hanneke's Monday walking group - a fit looking group of ladies :-).
Hanneke and Adele comparing hats!!

Finally Michael gets to see some of the sights :-) - Sunday lunch in the Botanical gardens with Wendy and Mark.
Beautiful water lilies and lotus in the Botanical gardens.

The ladies having a well earned coffee at Starbucks after their hike.
5 minutes of fame in the Shenzhen Daily - not for starting fires or abandoning children!!

In the eye of the beholder.

Finally found some accommodation.

3 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment on the 7th floor in a clean, quiet, well maintained complex. Only 15 minutes walk from college. Only minor problem, we cannot find anyone who speaks English, and our Chinese is more double dutch. So if there are a lack of posts in the next few weeks we could be stuck in the lift!!!!

Main bedroom.
View over the complex, yes that is our swimming pool.

View from the living room window

Front entrance to our building in the complex; one of 11.

Side entrance to the complex.

Corner of our street; Vanguard over the road is our local supermarket.

Michael can use the trees but is this really the ladies?

Our local park; tranquil, lush green and far from the madding crowd.

Keeping an eye on the Job

First day at college!!!!!!!

The side entrance to Shenzhen College of International Education.

The main entrance showing former students; note the lack of graffiti.

The main buildings; 6 stories no lift!
Thankfully the English Department and classrooms are on the 2nd floor :-).

Had a few days of orientation with new staff. One more week of organization with all staff; students start Monday 17 August 2015. Looking forward to it.

Opening our eyes.

The adventure begins:

Perth airport, on our way to Shenzhen.

Landing in Shenzhen - a small section of a large city.

Shenzhen already ☺️. Waiting for a taxi, first of many queues.

Hot, humid, excited, nervous, awestruck.
Walking around Shenzhen we had a sensory smorgasbord; a typical large city but with a very unique Chinese character.
Soon to be the second tallest building in the world!!!!!

Obviously a place to do our weekly shopping!!
A familiar favourite shopping spot :-)

and the benefits are the same no matter where in the world you are!!!!!!!

Ancient and modern China - Confucius say would you like fries with that Minion!!!

A typical shopping street in Futian District, Shenzhen.
